Carter Student Advances to National Competition

Daphne Saucedo wins BPA award

On March 7, 2019, Daphne Saucedo placed second in Financial Literacy at the state BPA (Business Professionals of America, competition in Dallas, qualifying her to compete in the national event to be held in Anaheim, California, on May 1-4.

Business Professionals of America

BPA is a national organization for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields. It has over 1,800 chapters in 25 states and Puerto Rico in colleges, high schools and middle schools. The Carter chapter of BPA was organized this school year and is the only chapter in Arlington at a junior high school. The chapter participated in competitions at the regional, state, and national levels for each educational division.

Other Winners in the Competition

The regional competition was held in Keller on January 26. Six students won awards there: Daphne Saucedo – 1st place in Financial Literacy, Isac Hernandez – 1st place in Spreadsheet Fundamentals, Aaliyah Perry, Jamainh Chinomona and Keshawn Stewart – 1st place in Administrative Support, and Tracy Asare Kwarteng – 1st place in Keyboarding Production.

The state competition was held in Dallas on March 6-8. In addition to Daphne’s award, mentioned above, Aaliyah Perry placed 5th in Business Fundamentals.
